Dolpo area is situated in far remote area of western Nepal. Typically Tibetan origin people are residing in this area. Standing in the middle of rocky natural landscapes of Dolpo.There are about 130 monastiries and few of their history going back to premature. Shey Phoksundo lake and Shey Gompa are the two major attractions of the Dolpo region. Dolpo region is totally isolated and secluded.
Beside, this is also one of the few areas where the pre- Buddhist Bon Po religion is practiced This area is rich in cultural and natural diversity. Lower Dolpo Trek offers a wonderful trekking experience in the remote western region of Nepal.
To commence this Lower Dolpo trek, we have to take an hour flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu and next flight to Jhupal and begin our trek through remote locations of Dolpo.
Generally, Dolpo area has been came popular after The 1999 French-Nepalese movie Himalaya,
which gives insight into the local customs, was the first Nepalese film to be nominated for an Oscar award and also a huge success in Nepal itself, drawing the country’s attention to the region. Also Dolpo region has been shown in all its integrity and full mystical experience.Numa la and the Baga la are the two high passes of this trek.
