Paldor 5896m is among the quickly accessible mountain from the Kathmandu in the Ganesh Himal area north of Kathmandu. This is beautiful area formed of north sloped wide valleys also offers the best site for skiing in Nepal.
The mountain is located at the southeast end of the mountain massif Ganesh Himal The Paldor 5896m (other sources 6903 m ) high mountain is a popular destination for mountain tourists. It offers a view of the nearby 1000 m higher mountains of Ganesh V and Salsungo. It has a lower difficulty and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Various organizers offer 2-3 week tours to the summit. The mountain offers accesses to the northeast, south-east, west and south-west ridges. Paldor 5896m has been first ascent by Bill Tilman, Peter Lloyd, Tenjing Sherpa and Dawa Namgyal over the northeast ridge in 1949
We meet with other participants in Kathmandu and have two days practicing rock climbing and equipment handling around the cliffs near Kathmandu. After the rock practice, we drive to Dhunche – north of Kathmandu and begin trek for the Paldor base camp in the Ganesh Himal area. Snow and crevasse rescue training are conducted near the base camp. After the snow and crevasse rescue training we climb the peak and return to Kathmandu.
