This three valleys of Everest trek is less frequented by travelers in the Everest area, combine hikes in the Nangpa, Gokyo and the Khumbu Valleys – the 3 main valleys that form the Everest region. The trek itinerary begins with a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu and then begin the hike via Namche Bazaar first into Nangpa Valley then cross over a 5340m. high Pass (Renjo La) to enter Gokyo Valley and then cross another 5320m. high pass (Cho La) to enter into Khumbu Valley to visit the Mount Everest base camp.
Hike in the Nangpa Valley, which leads towards the Nangpa La pass (5716m.) Nepal – Tibet border, will be the focus of the trip as this beautiful Valley which has been recently opened for trekkers is less frequented by travelers and more remote than the Gokyo and Khumbu Valley. While in the Nangpa Valley we will visit the old base camp for Mt. Cho-Oyu 8201m. and if possible climb to the Nangpa La pass (5716m.) After the hikes in the Nangpa Valley, we will be well acclimatized for crossing of our first high pass Renjo La 5340m. From this pass, the view of Mt. Everest and mountains in the vicinity are just breathtaking with the turquoise color Gokyo lake in the foreground.
Entering Gokyo, we cross the Ngozumba glacier which drains from the mountains in the Mt. Cho-Oyu range and take the higher trail for the Cho-La pass (5320m.) The hike to this pass is quiet and beautiful with many smaller snowy peaks encircling our trail. Even though a few meter less higher than Renjo La pass, the Cho-La pass is a snowy pass and offers beautiful view of peaks in the Gokyo Valley and Amadablam on the other side.
Entering into Khumbu Valley, we meet the popular Mt. Everest trail at Lobuche. From here, the Mount Everest base camp is another day’s walk pass the tea houses in Gorakshep. The walk to Mt. Everest base camp after Gorakshep follows the Khumbu Ice Fall with huge blocks of ice blocks shaped like tiny mountains. After the base camp experience, we follow the popular tourist trail back to Lukla via Pheriche, Tengboche and Namche Bazaar.
